Lunch and Breakfast Free for SCSD Students
The Syracuse City School District, as part of a pilot program, will offer free lunch and breakfast to all students in the district for the 2012-2013 school year. The United States Department of Agriculture Community Eligibility Option allows the district to offer both meals at no charge to all students in all schools. Students must still pay for a la carte items (extras that are not part of the regular breakfast or lunch).
At the beginning of each school year, parents receive information about school meals, including alternate (non-meat) entrée choices available to all students daily. Monthly calendars of lunch meals are available at your child’s school and at syracusecityschools.com.
The SCSD believes that one of the most important ways we can help our children perform better in the classroom is to provide them with the nutrition necessary for the healthy growth of minds and bodies. If you have questions about the breakfast or lunch programs call 435-4207.
