District Sends State Education Department Evaluation Agreements

The Syracuse City School District was one of more than 164 districts that submitted both teacher and principal evaluation agreements to the New York State Education Commission on July 2.

The negotiated agreements were required under a revised teacher and principal evaluation law passed earlier this year. The SCSD was able to submit their negotiated agreements using the state’s online portal system.

“This is a sea change in education,’’ Commissioner John King said. “It’s not just about an increase in education aid. We’re trying to improve teaching and learning in every school across the state. The goal is to make sure every student graduates from high school with the skills needed to succeed in college and careers. Fair, accurate evaluations are an important step to help educators help our students meet that goal.’’
